Moab, Utah (April 11, 2009) - Under the imposing red walls of Moab, Utah, Rock Runner Racing’s Joachim Schwiesow placed fifth among 32 competitors at the XRRA Western Division season opener. Schwiesow was driving the same dedicated rock racer that he used to place eighth at the 2009 King of the Hammers. “We have been so busy, I really haven’t done anything to the Twisted Customs buggy since King of the Hammers” Schwiesow noted.

Prior to the race, Schwiesow did spend the week in Moab for the annual Easter Jeep Safari, the largest 4WD event in the nation. He took advantage of the location to film a new commercial with BFGoodrich and show off the capabilities of his rock racer. The Twisted Customs Land Cruiser buggy uses two Ron Davis radiators to provide cooling and runs BFGoodrich KRT tires on Trailready beadlocked rims.
The fifth place finish was Schwiesow’s second in as many weeks, having placed as high at the WE Rock season opener in Tucson with teammate Brian Errea. “This one was particularly sweet,” Schwiesow noted, “since it came on my birthday.” Mark Ruffing, Schwiesow’s normal co-driver, noted how capable the new Twisted Customs buggy was following the race. “Those Mastercraft 3G seats just suck you into place,” Ruffing gushed, “and the Radflo coilovers really soak up the bumps. Sometimes it was tough to tell if we were on the ground or in the air.”
Rock Runner Racing now returns to their home base in Rapid City to gear up for the second WE Rock Western Nationals event of the season. For more Rock Runner Racing information log on to rockrunnerracing.com.
