BUDAPEST, (July 23, 2010) – Monster Energy’s newly-signed flatland BMX specialist, Hungarian Adam Kun, was just crowd the world’s top athlete in his sport – winning this past weekend’s BMX Masters in Cologne.

Los Angeles, California (ACP Racing) August 1, 2010 – North American Rally Champion Andrew “ACP” Comrie-Picard took third place overall and the Bronze Medal in Rally Car Racing at X Games 16 this weekend in a hard-fought battle that saw twelve of the best drivers and teams in the country and from around the world fighting in the Los Angeles Coliseum.

LOS ANGELES – Aug. 2, 2010 – Extreme grip, acceleration and toughness once again reigned supreme as BFGoodrich® Tires shattered records at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum this past weekend at X Games 16. Competitors running BFGoodrich tires swept the podiums of both rally disciplines, Rally Car and SuperRally, winning six of seven medals, including both gold medals. Since Rally Car started as an X Games contest five years ago, competitors running BFGoodrich tires have won 17 of 20 podium spots.

Los Angeles - X Games 16 newest event Rally Car Super Rally excited the drivers, judges and fans as twelve competitors had the chance to race head to head in, out and around The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the first time. Rally Car Racing medalists Tanner Foust and Brian Deegan again rode away tonight with gold and silver, this time in the Super Rally Final. This brings Foust's X Games medals to five and Deegan now has 12.

"The track was perfect and had so much grip," Foust said. "Door-to-door, I like racing the four cars, but even when you say you don't have a favorite kid, you always do. And Super Rally is definitely my favorite."

Competition quickly whittled down to the final four: Foust, Deegan, Samuel Hubinette and Stephan Verdier. As the four cars lined up at the top of the Coliseum, anticipation was high for a thrilling race. While Foust edged out Deegan in the first turn, an early jump by Deegan put him in third. Even with a lost bumper, Verdier was hot on Foust's heels as the two drivers vied for number one position. Verdier looked to take silver but during the last lap, Deegan made fast work of the track and found himself back in second position.

"I knew Foust had me at the start, then I made some rookie mistakes," said Deegan. "At the beginning of the day, I had no idea I would be winning a medal because practice was not going so well. I am super pumped to go home with two silver medals."

Trailing in last place the entire race, rookie Hubinette squeaked past Verdier at the last second to take home the bronze medal.

"What a finish," said Hubinette. "It was insanely fun. I was the underdog, and no one expected this from me."

When the four drivers finished, they played to the cheering crowd, taking jumps and turning doughnuts.

Following a challenging day in the Rally Car competitions, Travis Pastrana pulled it all together to cap off the final X Games 16 event in style, grabbing the gold medal in the Moto X Speed & Style Final on Sunday night.

"I feel so lucky to have done well in this competition. I never have won and have always struck out," said Pastrana. "The crowd here is awesome and I really feel welcomed here at X Games."

Pastrana grabbed the holeshot from Nate Adams in the gold medal round and thanks to the sizable lead in the speed portion and a backflip double heel-click in the style portion, he was able to take home his 11th X Games gold medal.

"I knew Nate had bigger tricks. He was doing the 360s and lazyboy flips and I said 'I'm just going to focus on the speed. I'm going to go as fast as I can," said Pastrana. "This was a really good year and it feels so good."

The crowd at the STAPLES Center got an extra serving of action as Jeremy Stenberg and Ronnie Faisst went head-to-head for the bronze medal. It looked like the deal was sealed for Faisst as Stenberg went down on the first lap, but a bike stall for Faisst in lap three left the door open for Stenberg to come from behind for the bronze.

"I'm glad he stalled. I was laying there on the ground and I thought 'I can't give up now,'" said Stenberg. "The crowd was too excited for me to just give up so I went after it and I'm happy because I have a medal."

Los Angeles, Calif. - Moto X legend Travis Pastrana pulled out every trick as he impressed the judges and brought the fans to their feet when he took the gold medal in the Moto X Freestyle Final at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Thursday.

"This is a great start to the X Games," said Pastrana. "Out of the four events I am competing in, this is the last one I expected to win."

As he entered his third run in the final, Pastrana had the score which would bring him gold but that didn't stop him from giving the crowd an exciting finish. At times standing up and waving to the crowd, he smoothly executed the double backflip, a notable trick of his that earned him gold in Moto X Best Trick in 2006.

"When I saw the course, I felt that it really favored me," Pastrana added. "It was a lot of fun, especially the wall rides, and I knew that the only way to beat everyone else was to bring back the double backflip."

In his X Games debut, New Zealand native Levi Sherwood took home the silver medal, with Nate Adams of Glendale, Ariz., rounding out the top three. This is Adams' sixth Freestyle medal, his ninth overall.

As the five finalists pulled out every trick to top the other in tonight's Skateboard Park Men's Final, the rookie, Pedro Barros of Brazil, completed an exciting backside grab 540 to take the gold medal in his first X Games appearance.

"It's amazing to be at the X Games as a pro skater," said Barros. "I saw Andy ripping it up, and I realized that I needed to step up my routine. I put all of my tricks into the run and what really helped me was the 540 Vert wall trick."

Air transfers were key to medaling, and Andy Macdonald continually wowed the audience with his gap transfers. After the third run, Barros and Macdonald were tied for gold; however, Barros' last run, which included great speed, the 540 trick and a frontside tail grab, secured him the number one position. Macdonald placed second, taking his third consecutive silver medal in Skateboard Park and bringing his total X Games medals to 21.

"This park course is the best one yet. They opened it up and made the lines so you can keep your speed," said Macdonald. "For me, I will be doing this as long as I am competitive and holding my own against guys half my age."

In his second X Games appearance, Kevin Kowalski's precision skills earned him the bronze medal.

"I have won pro competitions before but this is the X Games," said Kowalski. "I was an alternate since the first day I was invited. I am stoked because I didn't expect to make it this far."

Tommy Sandoval was unstoppable with his frontside kickflip to come out on top for an X Games gold medal in the debut of the Game of SK8 Final at The Event Deck at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles on Sunday.

"I just had to do what I knew I could do and hoped it would work. That's how it is with everyone in this game - do what you know you can do best," said Sandoval.

Similar to H-O-R-S-E, the Game of SK8 consisted of a competition format where athletes had to complete the same trick that their prior competitor did. If the trick was not executed correctly, they collected a letter. After three failed attempts their letters would spell SK8 and they would be eliminated from the competition.

"It was really different to the other competition formats and we didn't get too traditional with the Game of SK8 where if you did a trick everyone on the roster had to do it," said Sandoval.

In the end it was Sandoval competing against Sierra Fellers who said the Game of SK8 made him want to work on the tricks that he didn't land in the competition.

"We both have different tricks, and we both know who can and can't do certain ones," said Fellers. "Today, Tommy did more tricks that he knew I couldn't do and I guess I will have to work on them now."

In its second year as a medaled event, the Skateboard Park Legends Final continued to impress and delight the judges and fans as some of the most influential skaters gathered together to bring their best tricks to X Games 16. Christian Hosoi ruled the course as he won back-to-back gold medals. Silver medal went to Chris Miller, who also took second in 2009.

"I dedicate this win to my mom who passed away a few weeks ago," said Hosoi. "I know she's with me, and I had a great day today doing what I love."

An inspiration to fans and skaters of all ages, the five legends easily took to the spacious course with its street feel. During the five runs, Hosoi shredded the competition with clean lines and cool transfers, including the backside to frontside ollie, laid back slide and a crowd-pleasing front side ollie out of the top of the bank. Miller impressed with several huge front side airs, and his smooth style, speed and air had him hanging on to the number two spot for another year.

"I started my own skate business because I never contemplated the fact that I would be able to keep skating at this age," Miller said. "I continued skating to share with my kids, never thinking that I would get an X Games medal."

"The X Games is the superbowl of skateboarding," said Hosoi. "To have medals now is awesome. Back in the day, we got ribbons. What other sport is there where you can get the old guys together and get a big crowd who is excited to see what you can still do."

Steve Caballero's smooth, consistent ride landed him the bronze, his first X Games medal.

Alexis Sablone came through with the most technical style to win her first X Games gold medal during the Skateboard Street Women's Final at The Event Deck at L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday.

"I grew up skating in my garage, so I really had to step it up to make those transitions on the street course," said Sablone. "I was nervous about the new format and it took a little getting used to, but this feels amazing and I still can't believe it."

Sablone, who won an X Games silver medal in 2009, came back for the gold by throwing down a kickflip 50/50 grind down the angle box known as the "hubba" and a frontside back slide during her fourth run.

"The coffee cup was challenging and the course was great," said Sablone. "My kickflips were on today. When I successfully executed the trick over the doubleset, I was super stoked."

Brazil's Leticia Bufoni put together a third run consisting of a kickflip, lip slide, rock to fakie off the coffee cup and a frontside 180 ollie off the steps for her first X Games silver medal.

"The competition this year was great, better than last year. I feel like all of the girls stepped up and took it to the next level," said Bufoni.

Bufoni was followed by Chicago's Marisa Dal Santo, who took the bronze medal.

Ryan Sheckler was leaving it all on the line Saturday, putting together seamless runs to mark his third X Games gold medal during the Skateboard Street Men's Finals at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles. Sheckler battled back and forth throughout the jam session with Nyjah Huston, but came out on top after a near-perfect final run.

"It was a crazy contest to be back. I got hurt last year and wanted to get back this year, and this definitely exceeded my expectations," Sheckler said. "I'm psyched. I just had to believe in myself. I just needed to get my bearings about me, let it flow and not worry so much about it. I couldn't have done anything more."

Sheckler, who made the best use of the teacup during the jam session, put together a final run that included a full cab backlip to fakie down the rail, alleyoop frontside transfer from one half of the teacup to the other, gap up to 5, frontside air on the teacup and a cab back lip to take the win.

"I wanted to throw out a different run from what I already did. The course is interesting. You had to get out there and just start throwing down. I liked it," Sheckler said. "I just threw it out and gave it all I had because I knew it would be my last run."

The year marked the second silver medal in a row for Nyjah Huston, who said this silver meant more to him because of what he put into it.

"It means more this year because last year there was just one more trick I needed to land. This year I actually landed the run I wanted to do, so I was really happy with the way I skated," Huston said. "I wasn't expecting to win, I was just trying to do my best and I am happy with how it turned out."

Ryan Decenzo rounded out the top three as he took the X Games bronze.

Los Angeles - Venezuelan native Daniel Dhers reclaimed his third gold medal in the BMX Freestyle Park Final as he pulled out his patented flairs and tight tricks consistently in his four runs. After Rob Darden dropped out last evening, Dennis Enarson suddenly found himself back in the mix to win the silver, his first X Games medal.

"In practice, I was doing more lines and not so many tricks," said Dhers. "I felt like I was packing too much into it so I chose to focus on doing more tricks for the Final. When I was a kid, I watched the X Games, looking for the newest trick. The difficult course they created really challenges you to bring your best."

Enarson said, "Right before I got the call, I was planning to go out for the night. So, I chose to go to bed early and get a good night's rest."

Dhers delivered and gave the fans quite a show as he stuck a double tailwhip to Indian grab air, alley oop flair and corked out 720, among others. "Excited to be in the final and feeling no pressure," Enarson was on fire from his first run as he thrilled with a nose pick to fakie and the tire slide over the visor into the 270 drop down, which secured his silver.

"The foot jam to fakie was probably the most risky thing I did," said Enarson. "It was nice to look up after I pulled that to see I was in second.

For the second consecutive year, Gary Young came in third place, earning the bronze medal.

Los Angeles, Calif. - X Games 16 gives fans the power to judge via text message for the Moto X Best Whip Final. With more than half of the votes, Todd Potter claimed the gold medal for the second consecutive year.

"I felt great tonight, and thank you for voting for me," said Potter. "This event has always been good to me. I am already considering how I can take it to the next level for next year."

The California native was definitely a favorite at the STAPLES Center as the crowd roared their approval each time he took the turn down. Rookie Jarryd McNeil from Yarrawonga, Australia, garnered the second most votes and took silver, his first X Games medal. Rounding out the top three was Jeremy Stenberg, who placed for the first time in Best Whip.

Pierre-Luc Gagnon marked his spot in X Games history as he took the gold for the third year in a row during the Skateboard Vert Men's Finals at Nokia Theatre on Friday. Gagnon, who has a total of five X Games gold medals, is the only man to three-peat in Skateboard Vert.

"There was a lot of pressure because no one has ever done that before. The better you do, the more people expect out of you," Gagnon said. "But I feed off the pressure. The level of competition gets better but the pressure helps me step it up."

Only the 16th three-peat gold medal in X Games history, Gagnon's six-foot body varial McTwist into a body varial 5 was the trick that put him ahead of the rest.

"I was feeling really good in practice yesterday and I was throwing that trick every try," Gagnon said. "I decided it doesn't matter if I miss it on the first two, I'm going to make it on the next two. I'm super stoked to pull it off and I can't believe I did it."

Shaun White was right on Gagnon's heels, throwing down with amplitude and an innovative frontside heelflip 540 bodygrab that earned him the silver.

"Spirits were really up with the new setting, and the competition was heavy! It felt like it was Pierre and I just battling it out, but it was great," White said. "There were small details that I think I was missing in my run that would have put me up there higher, but that's just stuff you need to work on over time."

Andy Macdonald, a San Diego, Calif. resident, threw in a kickflip melon 5 during his final run to help boost him up for the bronze

Los Angeles, Calif. - The Moto X Best Trick Final delivered plenty of thrills as the top three spots went to first-time X Games medalists. Australian natives Cam Sinclair and Robbie Maddison received gold and silver, and Taka Higashino of Osaka, Japan, took bronze.

"I have been watching the X Games since I was 10 years old," Sinclair said. "This is a dream come true."

In his first X Games, Sinclair wowed the audience and the judges as he successfully completed a double backflip during his first run. This is only the third time this trick has been landed at the X Games, and Sinclair is the second rookie to win Best Trick.

"After my accident in Spain, I had lots of practice and preparation for this competition," Sinclair said. "Even though I have completed the double backflip eleven times, I was really worried because the set-up is different everywhere. I am excited that I was able to pull it off."

Second and third place were close as Maddison completed a smooth spin for his first run and then impressed the crowd with a Volt to side-saddle lander. Higashino's double grab indy air secured his first bronze medal.

"I am honored to get silver and am stoked to get my first medal," Maddison said. "Taka's trick was insane, and to me, I see no difference between second and third."

"I am super excited. This is my fourth year at X Games and my first medal," Higashino said. "Sometimes the difficulty of the trick messes with my head then I think about Jeremy Lusk. I felt like he was with me and I stuck it."

Los Angeles, Calif. - After the final two contestants missed the 32'6" bar, the Moto X Step Up Final came down to one last elimination round. X Games 15 gold medalist Ronnie Renner, who was looking for a back-to-back win, versus Matt Buyten, who was hungry to earn his third X Games gold medal in this challenging event. Sailing over the bar, Matt Buyten secured gold after taking the bronze last year.

"There is so much pressure every year at X Games," said Buyten. "What's great is that everyone respects this competition, and it means so much to win the gold again."

Beginning the Final at 26 feet, the first round looked more like practice as everyone cleared the bar. However, it quickly came down to Buyten, Renner, Myles Richmond and Todd Potter as they attempted to jump the 32'6" bar height. When the next step was raised a foot, only Buyten and Renner remained.

"Every year, Step Up is a dog fight, and I knew it was going to come down to me and Renner," Buyten said. "It's much harder than it looks to do, and the landings are rough. I have a massage already scheduled for Monday."

Richmond claimed the bronze, his first X Games medal.

Los Angeles, Calif. - It was déjà vu one year later for Jake Brown as he launched the 70-foot Skateboard Big Air gap at X Games to take in his second gold in a row. Brown went head-to-head with two-time gold medalist Bob Burnquist who took silver trying to land a 900.

"I feel really good about my new trick. When we get more practice everyone can expect to see more 900s now that we have a place to practice," Brown said. "I'm really excited for next year."

Brown backflipped the gap and boosted 22.7 feet with a 540 to take his second X Games gold medal in as many years. Right on Brown's heels was Burnquist, as the duo pushed each other throughout the night at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum with Burnquist continuing to attempt his elusive 900.

"Bob is such a great competitor and I have to push myself just to be at his level," Brown said. "We're competitors against ourselves. Rob is so gnarly that it's an honor to think I'm anywhere near him."

"I'm so impressed with Jake and how he puts it together," Burnquist said. "Everyone was going really big. People usually don't do 20 plus feet on the quarterpipe and this was a great competition for that."

Rob Lorifice came in third for the bronze.

Los Angeles, Calif. - Returning defender Ashley Fiolek revved up the field and the audience as she took the gold for the second year in a row in the Moto X Super X Women's Final at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Last year, she made competition history as the first hearing-impaired medalist.

"Christmas came early this year!" said Fiolek. "This is a great way to get the weekend started, and now I can sit back and enjoy the rest of the X Games."

Silver and bronze came down to the last lap as Tarah Gieger and Sara Price were neck-and-neck the entire race. 2008 gold medalist Gieger edged out Price to take second place.

"I am surprised and excited to finish in the top three," Price said. "I didn't realize that I had medaled until my mechanic told me."

Los Angeles, Calif. - Josh Grant made up for lost time in the start to take over the lead in lap 11 for his first X Games gold during the Moto X Super X Men's Finals Thursday at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

"I feel great, this is a great feeling. It's right up there with my win in Anaheim," Grant said. "It was a close race but to come away with the win is great. The atmosphere and the people are fantastic here at the X Games. If I wasn't competing, I would still be here."

Grant trailed two-time Moto X Super X gold medalist Josh Hansen, who took the holeshot for an early wide lead in the race. After consist, smooth transitions, Grant took the lead in lap 11 and finished with a celebratory fist pump over the finish line.

Justin Brayton of Murrieta, Calif. stayed consistent and made his move after Grant to take the silver.

Hansen, whose father took the World Championship medal at the Coliseum in 1982, finished third for bronze.

Los Angeles, Calif. - Snatching the lead right out of the gate, Mike Schultz kept the competition behind him to take home his first X Games gold during the Moto X Super X Adaptive Final at The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Thursday.

"It feels great to come back and compete after my injury at Winter X Games one and a half years ago and showcase an exciting track like this one at the Coliseum," Schultz said.

Cottonwood, Calif. resident Todd Thompson followed Schultz for the silver.

Schultz, who took the Super X Adaptive silver in 2009, narrowly took the win after having trouble with his prosthesis during the race, which he built custom for competing in the X Games.

"I wasn't able to stand up on my prosthetic side so I lost a few paces, but we pulled it off and ended up in the lead so it's good," Schultz said.
